Why Post-Purchase Offers Don't Appear
This guide explains the main reasons why post-purchase offers in Rapi Bundles may not be displayed to your customers, along with steps to diagnose and resolve each situation.
They apply to all post-purchase upsell apps, not exclusively to Rapi Bundles.
Payment Method Compatibility
Shopify only triggers post-purchase pages for certain payment methods. If a customer completes their order using an unsupported method, the offer page will be skipped entirely.
❌ Payment methods that will block post-purchase offers:
- Buy Now, Pay Later Services: Klarna, Affirm, Shop Pay Installments, AfterPay, Sezzle
- Digital Wallets: Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay
- Gift Cards: Orders paid entirely with gift cards
- Cash on Delivery (COD)
- Bank Transfers: iDeal, Airwallex, and similar
- Payment method other than a credit card
✅ Payment methods that support post-purchase offers:
- Shopify Payments (for Credit Cards)
- Shop Pay (standard checkout flow only)
- PayPal Pro, PayPal PatFlow (when used with a credit card)
- PayPal Express (requires Automatic Payments to be enabled, PayPal knows them as Reference Transactions)
- Braintree (without CVV verification enabled)
- Authorize.net
- Any other direct credit card payment processor that is embedded within Shopify's checkout (like Stripe)
Order Requirements
Minimum order price
- Post-purchase offers are only triggered for orders of at least $0.50 USD.
- Free orders or fully discounted orders at $0.00 will not display any offer.
Currency restrictions (Multi-Currencies)
- Offers will only appear when the order is placed in your store's default currency.
- If a customer checks out in a different currency (e.g. EUR while your default is USD), the post-purchase page will not be shown.
Duties
Post-purchase upsell offers won’t be surfaced on orders with duties. Why? Because the calculation adds complexity to the checkout flow, so Shopify currently does not support recalculation or collecting duties on additional items added after the initial Checkout.
Delivery Method Restrictions
Post-purchase offers are not available for orders placed with local delivery or local pickup. If your store uses these fulfillment options, affected orders will not trigger the post-purchase page.
Accelerated Checkout Limitations
When customers use accelerated (express) checkout options, they bypass the standard Shopify checkout flow, which means post-purchase offers will not appear.

- Shop Pay Express: the accelerated/express version
- The Shop app's accelerated checkout flow
✅ Checkout flows that support post-purchase offers:
- Standard Shopify multi-step checkout
- Shop Pay via the standard checkout flow (not the express button)
- Standard PayPal checkout (not PayPal Express as an accelerated method)
Subscription product conflicts
If the customer's initial order already contains a subscription product, post-purchase offers cannot be displayed.
This restriction applies even if the offer you want to present is a one-time purchase product. It is necessary to prevent billing conflicts and ensure the smooth processing of recurring payment flows.
Technical Configuration
Check that Rapi Bundles is set as your active post-purchase app
Only one post-purchase app can be active in Shopify at a time. To verify your setup:
• Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Checkout
• Scroll to the Post-purchase page section
• Make sure Rapi Bundles is selected as the active app

High traffic periods
During peak traffic, Shopify may automatically skip post-purchase pages to maintain checkout performance. This behavior is handled entirely by Shopify and cannot be overridden.
✅ Quick Troubleshooting Checklist
Before contacting support, go through this checklist to identify the most likely cause:
☐ Customer used a supported payment method
☐ Order was placed in your store's default currency
☐ Order total was above $0.50
☐ Upsell product is currently in stock
☐ No subscription conflict between the original order and the upsell product
☐ Order was not placed with local delivery
☐ Customer did not use an accelerated checkout method
☐ Rapi Bundles is set as the active post-purchase app in Shopify
