This guide explains how Shopify handles discount combinations and how to configure your discount codes so they work perfectly alongside our app.

🧠 Understanding Shopify’s Discount Logic

In our app, bundle discounts are processed as Product Discounts. This is a key detail because Shopify follows strict guidelines regarding which promotions can be stacked together.

Our bundle discounts can successfully be combined with:

• Other Product Discounts: Only if they apply to entirely different items in the cart. Shopify won't allow two separate product-level discounts to be active on the exact same item. If this happens, Shopify will automatically apply only the highest discount.
• Order Discounts: You can stack a bundle discount with a discount code that applies to the customer's entire cart (e.g., "$15 off your total order").
• Free Shipping: Customers can enjoy free shipping on orders containing a bundle.

🛠️ How to make your discount codes work with Bundles discount

Depending on what kind of discount code you want to offer, follow the right scenario below to make it work with your bundles:

📋 Case A: For Free Shipping, Order Discounts, or OTHER products

If your discount code applies to the whole order, free shipping, or a completely different product, you just need to authorize the combination in Shopify:

1. Go to your Shopify Admin > Discounts and click on your discount code.
2. Scroll down to the Combinations section.
3. Check the box next to Product discounts (this allows it to combine with our app).
4. Click Save.

🚨 Case B: If your product discount applies to the SAME product as the bundle

If a product is already discounted by a bundle, Shopify will block any other product-level discount code on that same item. Shopify will automatically apply only the highest discount.

The Solution: You must convert that product discount into an Order Discount instead:

1. Go to your Shopify Admin > Discounts > Create discount.
2. Select Amount off order (Do not choose "Amount off products").
3. Scroll down to Combinations and check the box next to Product discounts.
4. Click Save.
